Rockwood Rail Trail
The Rockwood Rail Trail is a scenic, multi-use pathway built along a former railway line, offering a smooth, gently graded route ideal for walking, cycling, jogging, and year-round recreation. The trail connects communities from the southern to the northern portions of the RM of Rockwood while showcasing the beauty of Manitoba’s prairie landscape. Designed with accessibility in mind, it features a paved surface for approximately 5 miles southeast of Summit road, suitable for all ages and abilities, along with benches, rest areas, and convenient access points. In warmer months, visitors can enjoy peaceful rides or strolls through open countryside, while in winter the trail accommodates activities like cross-country skiing. As an evolving community space, ongoing enhancements such as tree planting continue to improve both comfort and natural beauty, making the Rockwood Rail Trail a welcoming destination for recreation and active transportation alike.
Limestone Park, Stony Mountain- Trails
A network of trails that wind through its unique landscape of limestone formations, open grassland, and water-filled quarry areas. These trails are ideal for walking, light hiking, and exploring the natural surroundings. Visitors can enjoy scenic views of the rugged limestone cliffs and wetlands, making it a great spot for photography, birdwatching, and quiet outdoor recreation. The terrain is generally flat to gently uneven, suitable for most ages, though proper footwear is recommended. The park’s natural trails add to its charm, offering a more rustic, unspoiled outdoor experience right in Stony Mountain. It’s a popular destination for locals looking to enjoy fresh air, nature, and a peaceful setting close to home.
Interlake Pioneer Trail
Beginning in Grosse Isle- 30 KM trail mixed use of non-motorized and motorized.
Discover this 30.1-km trail that weaves itself into the RM of Rockwood, Manitoba. Generally considered a challenging route, it takes an average of 8 hours to complete. This trail is great for birding, cross-country skiing, and hiking, and it's unlikely you'll encounter many other people while exploring. The trail is open year-round and is beautiful to visit anytime.
Prime Meridian Trail
The Prime Meridian
Trail offers community members and visitors a unique
opportunity to explore the natural beauty, history, and heritage of Manitoba’s
Interlake. The trail follows the historic route of the former railway and
provides a peaceful way to experience a landscape that has remained largely
unchanged for decades. Whether you choose to hike, bike, cross-country ski,
horseback ride, or snowmobile, the trail offers something for every season.
Along the way, visitors can discover more than 300 species of native
flowers and grasses, observe a variety of wildlife, and enjoy
the quiet beauty of the surrounding prairie and Interlake landscape. The trail
also provides a glimpse into Manitoba’s past, with historic buildings, early
settlements, and remnants of the region’s railway heritage helping to tell the
story of the communities that developed along this historic route.
The
Prime Meridian Trail is maintained by a
group of volunteers, the Prime Meridian Trail Association.
The work of local volunteers helps preserve this important recreational and
heritage corridor so that residents and visitors can continue to enjoy it for
generations to come. The 4-mile section of trail from Grosse Isle to
Highway 67, and 2 miles surrounding the Town of Argyle, is intended
for non-motorized recreation, including hiking, cycling, skiing, and
horseback riding. Snowmobiles are permitted during the winter season.
Oak Hammock Trails
Experience this 3.2-km loop trail in the RM of Rockwood. Generally considered an easy route, it takes an average of 46 min to complete. This is a popular trail for birding, hiking, and walking, but you can still enjoy some solitude during quieter times of day. The best times to visit this trail are April through May.
